How to use this word search
Across, down and diagonally, forwards only. Circle each complete word and cross it off the list. Letters may belong to more than one word.
Longer names such as JELLYFISH, SEAHORSE and OCTOPUS need careful letter-by-letter checking. Short names such as SEAL and CRAB provide a gentler entry. The list mixes animals and CORAL, so take time to discuss unfamiliar vocabulary.
After the activity
Choose two living things from the list and compare how they move. Draw an underwater scene, adding labels only after checking the spellings on the printed word list.
Print a clear copy
Choose US Letter for 8.5 × 11-inch paper, or A4 for 210 × 297 mm paper. Both editions contain the same activity and matching answers. Use portrait orientation and actual size. Page 1 is the activity; keep page 2 aside for checking. Print one sample before making classroom copies.
