Take the path one junction at a time

Start at the top-left opening and trace a route through the passages to the bottom-right exit. A line can turn at a junction but cannot pass through a wall. Each maze has one solution route. A dead end is a reason to retrace your pencil line, rather than cross a wall to escape.

The 8 × 8 layout has the widest passages. The 12 × 12, 16 × 16 and 20 × 20 grids add more turns and decisions. Pick a comfortable line width first; the largest maze is not automatically the best choice for every adult or older child.

A pencil makes a wrong turn easy to undo

Download the edition for your printer paper and print the activity on page one. Start with light pencil marks so the solver can erase a dead end and return to a junction. Actual size preserves the passage widths; check the print preview if your printer adds scaling.

Page two marks the complete route in gray, leaving the black walls visible. A helper can compare a single junction without showing the whole solution. Print copies for a quiet table activity or classroom break at no charge. If another group wants the same maze, send them this page rather than uploading the PDF elsewhere.

Before you trace a maze

Which maze has the widest paths?

The 8 × 8 maze is the roomiest choice on the same paper size. Larger grids have narrower passages and more junctions, so preview the layout before selecting it.

Is there more than one route to the exit?

Each published maze has one solution route between its two openings. Other passages lead to dead ends, which you can retrace without crossing a wall.

Do I need color ink to see the solution?

No. The answer page uses a gray route over black maze walls, so a grayscale print can show both. Print page one only when you want to keep the route hidden.

May I use these mazes for a group activity?

You can print free copies for your own family, class or tutoring group. There is no signup. Please do not sell or re-upload the files; give others the link to this page.
