How to use this word search
Across and down, forwards only. Circle each complete word and cross it off the list. Letters may belong to more than one word.
The grid uses 19-point letters and the word list uses 16-point type at actual print size. Ten words travel forwards across or down. A large letter does not remove an unfamiliar word: read SPADE and the plant parts together before starting.
After the activity
Compare ROOT, STEM and LEAF on a real plant or a drawing. Name a tool or flower you would like to add to a second garden puzzle.
Print a clear copy
Choose US Letter for 8.5 × 11-inch paper, or A4 for 210 × 297 mm paper. Both editions contain the same activity and matching answers. Use portrait orientation and actual size. Page 1 is the activity; keep page 2 aside for checking. Print one sample before making classroom copies.
Avoid two pages per sheet: at 100%, the grid uses 19-point letters and the word list uses 16-point text. Print scaling changes those sizes.
